Approval for alterations and extensions in Long Compton
Approval has been obtained in the Conservation Area of Long Compton for Alterations and Extensions to this beautiful Cotswold stone property. The proposal for this application was to provide additional accommodation for a growing family in the picturesque village of Long Compton. The Cotswold Stone house has an idyllic cottage presence which has been retained in the street scene, however a new pitched roof porch entrance is proposed which will create an attractive frontage to the existing concrete stone flat roof porch. To the rear, a contemporary extension has been proposed which provides an open plan room with a new garden-side sitting room. Above, a new bedroom suite is created which is to be vaulted to the roof with a new en-suite.
A stunning project revisited
A stunning project revisited after a highly successful architect and client owner collaboration which has created an exceptional house in the conservation area of Old Town Stratford upon Avon. The house has been extended outwards, downwards and upwards to maximise the space utilizing basement (gym) and attic (ensuite bedroom) with a ground floor rear extension and creatively adaptive first floor with two further bedrooms and a study with roof extension above.
The exterior facing west rear façade is clad in zinc, render, aluminum and glass, facing onto a contemporary garden and summer house. Inside the spacious interior is full of features of old and new with cantilevered stairs and a rear kitchen, dining and sitting room extension with automated rooflights and great lighting.
The client’s choice of furnishings art and interior design complement the architecture and spatial design making this project truly amazing.
Le Projet est Terminé!
Le projet est complete for this new house adjacent to an historic village in Gascony France. Following a supervision visit MRT architects have carried out finishing building maintenance including render wall repairs, lighting and landscaping.
Le Grand Verger is a summer family home designed by MRT architects as a harmonious composition of barns and stone structures inspired by the local vernacular of the region. An oak framed structure creates an opportunity for a spacious interior design with an open plan kitchen, dining and sitting experience for up to twelve guests to stay. The accommodation ascends three levels as it steps up the hill nestling the pool in a natural south facing enclosure. At first floor a mezzanine creates a leisure room below the rafters and purlins. A balcony overlooks an apple orchard and vineyard and the ancient 12th century castle.
