This design improved the internal accommodation to create a conventional four bedroom house on the first floor by building on the footprint of the single storey elements of the existing house. The first floor design was carefully orchestrated to provide a half storey over the first part of the roof nearest to the first view to provide a transition between this and the central two storey roof which is of normal domestic height.
