Grade II 16th Century Listed Barn Conversion

It’s a lovely gesture to be invited to stay in a property delivered from the MRT Architects portfolio of completed projects.

This was a challenging conversion of a redundant Grade II 16th Century Listed Barn adjacent to a grand country house of a Jacobean Estate near Upton-upon-Severn in Worcestershire.

The Client’s brief was to create a living section at one end and a holiday letting part at the other.

After lots of negotiation with English Heritage and Conservation Officers Listed Building Consent was achieved due, we believe, to the carefully considered plans which retained a substantial part of the original features of the barn which were sensitively incorporated into the newly formed domestic interior.  New windows and doors were carefully inserted into existing openings without alteration to the fabric of this important historic structure retaining its character and enhancing the setting in this delightful location in the Severn Valley with a backdrop of the Malvern Hills.

A perfect staycation in this idyllic position in glorious countryside with interiors of great charm and comfort.
