Appeal Win in Historic Stratford on Avon

A new exciting dwelling has been granted planning permission after an appeal has been allowed and planning permission granted by an inspector of state despite Stratford District Councils refusal.

The proposed dwelling is located behind an important remnant of Old Stratford’s medieval Grade II* listed timber framed cottages.

The inspector agreed with MRT’s contention that the appeal site; which forms part of the setting of Manor Court, has limited importance. Of note is also the inspectors comment of the importance of high quality design and that the proposed dwelling would not materially harm the setting of the historic buildings.
The team at MRT felt there was a case to be made and were always hopeful of a good result so all at MRT are delighted.

The house design proposes a traditional pitched roof of a bronze shimmering zinc standing seam overhanding a brick base. On the ground floor there is a covered car / cycle parking area. Under the Jetty above as a nod to the character of the adjacent historic cottage.

The floor plans are reversed with en suite bedrooms downstairs onto a rear landscaped courtyard. Upstairs there is a spacious open plan vaulted living dining kitchen room opening onto a balcony with spiral staircase down to the secret garden below.

The overall appearance blends traditional form with an original uncompromising triumphant contemporary design.

MRT are looking forward to building this one!
